PRIVACY NOTICE

Last updated: 8 Sept 2026

The Cake Curator respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why we need it and what we do with it.

The Cake Curator is operated by Abi Jermain, trading as The Cake Curator.

For questions about your personal information, contact:

Email: cakecuratorboxes@gmail.com

Information we collect

When you visit our website, contact us or place an order, we may collect information including:

  • your name;

  • email address and telephone number;

  • billing and delivery address;

  • details of your order and the information you give us for your curation;

  • correspondence between you and The Cake Curator;

  • payment and transaction information; and

  • technical information collected when you use our website, such as cookies and information about your device or browser.

We do not need to receive or store your full payment-card details ourselves where payment is processed by our payment provider.

Why we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • process and deliver your order;

  • create your Cake Curator curation;

  • contact you about your order;

  • take and record payments;

  • deal with questions, returns or complaints;

  • maintain business and accounting records;

  • prevent fraud or misuse of our website; and

  • comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

Our lawful bases

We mainly use your information because it is necessary to fulfil our contract with you - for example, we need your address to send your order and your curation details to prepare it.

We may also process information where necessary to meet a legal obligation, such as keeping appropriate financial and transaction records.

In limited circumstances we may rely on our legitimate interests, for example to operate, protect and improve our business, provided those interests do not override your rights.

Who we share information with

We only share personal information where necessary to run The Cake Curator. This may include companies providing services such as:

  • website hosting and ecommerce;

  • payment processing;

  • delivery and postal services;

  • accounting or bookkeeping;

  • IT and website services; and

  • professional or regulatory advisers where necessary.

These organisations receive only the information they need to provide the relevant service.

Filming and social media

We may film or photograph the process of selecting and packing orders placed with The Cake Curator.

We do not intentionally publish customer names, addresses, contact information, order numbers or other identifying information as part of this content.

If you ask us not to film your curation, we will respect that request.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Order, payment and transaction records may be retained for up to six years where needed for accounting, tax, legal or dispute-resolution purposes.

Other correspondence will be deleted when we no longer have a reasonable business or legal reason to keep it.

Marketing

We will not add you to a marketing mailing list simply because you have placed an order.

If we offer marketing emails in future, we will send them only where permitted by law, and you will always be able to unsubscribe.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, data-protection law gives you rights over your personal information, which can include the right to:

  • ask what information we hold about you;

  • ask us to correct inaccurate information;

  • ask us to delete information in certain circumstances;

  • restrict or object to certain uses of your information; and

  • ask us to provide certain information to you in a portable format.

You can exercise your rights by contacting cakecuratorboxes@gmail.com

Complaints

If you have a concern about how The Cake Curator uses your personal information, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve it.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data-protection regulator.

Cookies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies needed to make the website work and, depending on your choices, for analytics or other features.

Where cookies are not strictly necessary, they will only be used where the required consent has been obtained.
